A New Breed of Eye Color from Bare Escentuals

Bare Escentuals does it again. The mineral makeup brand known for its lightweight but powerful cosmetic innovations branches out into crème eyecolor with its latest launch, Buxom Stay There Eye Shadow ($17). The Buxom family already has a cult following with its plumping lipglosses and fanciful mascaras, so why not try some complementary eyecolors?

The hues in Stay There range from bolds to shimmers and are named after different breeds of Man’s Best Friend (Black Lab, Pug, Schnauzer, etc.). Happi tested Poodle, a pale yellow gold, and found it to have a beautiful celestial wash of color and a plush, smooth texture.

The mineral-infused, paraben-free formula pampers delicate skin with soothing aloe extract and vitamin E—all with a non-greasy, longwearing finish. Leading ingredients include cyclopentasiloxane, calcium aluminum borosilicate, calcium sodium borosilicate, alumina, synthetic fluorphlogopite, octyldodecanol, isododecane, boron nitride and silica, according to the Sephora website, where the product debuted in late July.

The packaging is tiny (0.12 oz), however, it is always ideal to toss crème formulations after three months (like mascara), so Bare Escentuals thought ahead to keep it fresh and have shoppers coming back for more.

Bare Escentuals also just debuted for Holiday 2010 its High Shine Eyecolor ($16)—another unique formulation. Offering a “mega-watt sheen,” the product is a powder eyeshadow with a wand applicator. The velvety-smooth formula glides on effortlessly for an extra creamy, opaque, foiled effect.
