Even thought muted matte grays and mauves are de rigueur for nails right now, there’s something to be said about a jazzy metallic lacquer to usher in the warmer weather. Zoya angles to corner the market on sunny, shimmer-y offerings with its latest collection, Reverie, for Spring 2010. As always, the brand’s formulations are free of toulene, camphor, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and retail for $7 each.
Standout hues include Laney, a classic moonlit silver metallic; Adina, a modern grape duochrome with a green/gold shimmer; Reece, a pretty gilded rose ideal for most skin tones and Happi, a golden sheer pink blush. Of course, we had to inquire about that one!
According to a representative for Zoya regarding Happi: “We wanted a color and color name that represented a positive, good feeling—given the tough times so many have had this year. We thought the name seemed cheerier and looked more like a woman's name (we name all of our colors with women's names) with an ‘I’ than it did with a ‘y.’ It's actually been on our name board for over a year just waiting for the perfect color.”
