Third Time's The Charm

July 11, 2011

The first was too sheer….the second, too flat. Tarte’s latest lipcolor release, LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster, delivers the perfect amount of color with a hit of shimmer to make it pop. It follows the brand’s LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint (Spring 2010) and LipSurgence Natural Matte (Fall 2010)….yes, Luster it is!

Happi sampled Frisky, a bright pink that goes on sheer with a hint of pink/gold shimmer. The glitter is fine; no chunky pieces here. The wear is considerable and fades slowly. Just like the original, Tarte's LipSurgence technology is said to “deliver a surge of moisture on a cellular level for a naturally plump appearance” but thankfully doesn’t have that strange cooling sensation of lip plumping products. The mint flavor is subtle.

Now, on to the ingredients. Key components include:

Beeswax: Forms a protective barrier between the skin and the environment.

Carnauba Wax: Ensures a smooth application.

Peppermint Oil: Cools and soothes the skin.

Soybean Oil: Provides emollient-rich proteins, vitamins A and E.

Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Lusters retail for $24 each and are available in six shades.
