Tinted lip balms are a tricky formulation—some products don’t have enough pigment to give that pop of color; others feel too chalky or worse, have a strange aftertaste. Naturals marketer Yes To Carrots created a winning blend in its new Color Balms for Spring 2012 ($5.99). These lightly tinted, lip-smacking balms glide-on smoothly and provide rich lip nourishment with a hint of tint.
Available in three wearable and universally flattering shades – Peachy Keen, Rosy Bloom, and Soft Plum – the Yes To Carrots Color Balms allows for buildable coverage to customize a sheer look or a richer pop of healthy-looking color, according to the company. The SKUs are formulated with vitamin E, jojoba oil, cocoa butter and sunflower seed oil and the packaging is a little bigger than the average Chapstick.
One caveat is the tube – by the design, it looks like it would open to the label side like more lip balms; however, it is the reverse and the printed side is the cap. Ideal for a left-hander like me but a little confusing at first!
