US Patent No. 8,298,516 B2; Douglas Anderson of San Diego, CA has patented a method for dissolving subgingival calculus in a subgingival pocket.
It is comprised of preparing a solution or suspension which includes sodium tripolyphosphate, pyrophosphate and a fluoride providing compound, wherein the pyrophosphate consists of tetrapotassium pyrophosphate; loading the solution or suspension into an application device with at least one orifice; and applying the solution or suspension directly to the subgingival pocket to dissolve subgingival calculus.
