U.S. Patent No. US 7,459,422 B2: P&G has patented a substrate composition that entails a spray-dried composite composition. The composite composition is comprised of, by weight, 35-60% of a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polymer and from 20-80% of a water-soluble inorganic salt, wherein the substrate composition has a median particle size of from approximately 1-100 micrometers, and the substrate composition comprises less than 10% of water-insoluble material. The water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic acid polymer, polymaleic acid polymer, polyacrylic-maleic copolymer, salts thereof and mixtures thereof; and wherein the water soluble inorganic salt is selected from the group consisting of a carbonate, a silicate and mixtures thereof.
