Unilever Patents Deodorant Composition

U.S. Patent No. 7,510,704 B2; Unilever Home & Personal Care USA has patented a cosmetic composition that is comprised of an antimicrobial active capable of providing sub-lethal inhibition of fatty acid catabolism by corynebacteria. The antimicrobial active is comprised of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl alcohol (0.1-0.5%); a structurant (1-30%); an emulsifier (0.1-10%); and an antiperspirant active (5-30%). The composition is topically administered to the human body as a deodorant in the form of a solid stick, soft solid, cream or gel.
