The top oral care offense in the office is bad breath, according to 60% of respondents of Gillette's"Oral-B Hummingbird Workplace Offender" survey. Other offenses include snapping gum (22%),picking of food between teeth (10%) and food stuck between teeth (7%). Also, more than half ofrespondents pass up corn, 38% pass on popcorn and 35% shun poppy seed bagels and muffinsto avoid getting food stuck between teeth at work.
"Oral health, an absolutely essential element of good overall health, should not be taken lightly,"said Dr. Paul Warren, DMD and vice president, clinical research, Gillette Oral Care. "Many peopleoverlook regular brushing and flossing--especially during work hours. But with all the convenient oralcare products available today, there really is no excuse for not taking care of our oral health."
Executives further added that poor oral care can result in embarrassing conditions like bad breathand can pose serious medical risks such as gum disease. Nonetheless, flossing is not America'sfavorite pastime. Seventy-three percent of survey respondents prefer grocery shopping to flossing.
