Perfume and accessories maker Parlux Fragrances Inc. announced that profit jumped about 70% in the fiscal second quarter, driven by strong results for its Guess and Paris Hilton-brand products. Parlux gave preliminary results for the three months ended Sept. 30, saying it earned between 39 cents and 41 cents per share, up from the 23 cents per share reported last year. Sales came in between $39 million and $40 million for the quarter, Parlux said. That’s up about 74% from revenue of $22.7 million a year ago.
The company said sales were helped by a Guess fragrance launch, along with a new Paris Hilton scent, related accessories and international distribution of its Maria Sharapova fragrance.
