CE.R.I.E.S. (Epidermal and Sensory Research and Investigation Center), Paris, France, presented the 2002 research award to Dennis R. Roop, Ph.D. As director of the Center for Cutaneous Molecular Biology and professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, Dr. Roop will use the $40,000 to research the role of gene p63 in epidermal development. Dr. Roop has linked the p53/65/73 family of proteins to tissue homeostasis and keratinocyte differentiation.
