Clorox, Oakland, CA, said sales rose 4% to $4.06 billion for the year ended June 30, 2002. Net income was essentially flat at $322 million. Volume increased 3% and the company noted that volume grew in eight of its nine business units. For the year, Clorox increased advertising spending by 13% and brought several new products to market, including Clorox ReadyMop, Armor All leather wipes, Formula 409 Orange Power cleaner and Clorox Oxygen Action stain remover. In the fourth quarter, volume rose 1%. Sales were up 3% to $1.13 billion. Net income jumped 79% to $145 million.
