Yankee Candle Sets Sales Record in Second

The Yankee Candle Company reported that total sales for the second quarter of 2002 rose 31% to a record $81.3 million. Wholesale sales, including European operations, increased 43% to $40.2 million, while retail sales rose 20% to $41.1 million. Net income for the second quarter jumped 312% to $5.9 million. For the first half, sales increased 23% to $169.5 million and net income in creased 118% to $13.4 million.
