CANADA: Avon Canada will shut down its Pointe Claire, Montreal operations by the end of the year. A layoff of 150 employees is expected. Work will be transferred to plants in Illinois and Ohio, freeing up funds to spur growth, Avon Canada executives said.
Avon will continue to employ about 800 individuals at its head office in Pointe Claire. “Over the past three years, we have invested nearly $16 million in distribution-facility improvements, call-center modernization and new technology,” said Tony Ariganello, president, Avon Canada. “These investments underscore our commitment to ensure that Avon continues to be a vital competitive force in Canada.”
