Boots Rethinks Its Well-Being Centers

November 14, 2005

The UK: In order to focus its energies on the core Boots the Chemists chain, Boots Plc will close 12 well-being centers offering Botox injections, massages, makeovers and manicures, as well as Pure Beauty stores. Executives said the stores did not meet expectations and the chain is suffering from growing supermarket competition. The decision, made by chairman John McGrath and outgoing chief executive Steve Russell, was the result of women’s preference to patronize day spa and salons for these services.
