Fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez launched an eponymous fragrance, Narciso Rodriguez for Her, in June. At the debut Mr. Rodriguez said, “Every designer dreams of creating his first fragrance. I’ve had this vision for a long time.”
Beauté Prestige International (BPI), the powerhouse behind the launch, created fragrance pulses of Egyptian musk, as well as flower honey, a mixture of solar musk, orange blossom and osmanthus; amber light, an amberlyn and vanilla blend, a combination of vetiver and woods. “We worked at least 18 months to discover this fragrance,” noted BPI president Rémy Gomez. The fragrance was created by BPI’s Christine Nagel and Francis Kurkdjian.
Narciso Rodriguez for Her will debut in the U.S. BPI is well-versed in creating fragrances for fashion designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Issey Miyake. “We’re not launching a fragrance; we’re launching a brand with the same spirit and dedication as Narciso,” explained Mr. Gomez.
Like his fashions influenced by American and European fashion, architecture and his Cuban ancestry, the fragrance bottles are stripped of all extras to reveal a classic, smooth black glass container and T-shaped cap, reminiscent of a Chinese snuff bottle.
