The recent rise in cosmetic foot surgery is very risky, according to medical professionals. Some surgeries include shortening of toes, narrowing of feet and injecting the fat pad with collagen to alter the appearance of feet and enable them to fit better into certain kinds of shoes.
“The public needs to be aware of the risks associated with these procedures,” warned Glenn B. Pfeffer, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society president. “Complications can include infection, nerve injury, prolonged swelling of a toe and even chronic pain with walking.”
