l EUROPE: The 626-member European Union Assembly issued a ban on the use of animals to test cosmetics by 2009. The ban will be implemented in phases and includes imported cosmetics. A toxicity test ban will be phased in by 2013 as well. There are currently no alternatives to the tests, according to industry experts.
