Kanebo Forms JV with Kao

l JAPAN: Debt-ridden Kanebo Ltd. will create a joint venture with its core cosmetics operations and Kao Corp. by March 2004, and Kao plans to bring the operations to the company by March of 2007. The companies’ business units will be reorganized into a production unit at Kao and a sales unit at Kanebo. The alliance is expected to help Kanebo pursue more R&D and market research, but would eliminate 2,800 jobs and shut down Kanebo’s nylon operations.
