One of the newest products in the Dow Chemical lineup is Triton EF surfactants, which the company bills as a new generation of low-foam surfactants. These nonionics are said to provide an excellent combination of low foam profile, detergency and wetting performance, along with a good environmental profile that makes them well suited for the development of global formulations. The surfactants can be formulated into metal cleaners and other hard surface cleaners, spray cleaners, rinse aids and machine dish detergents. The three-product Triton EF line includes Triton EF-14 surfactant for fast wetting, Triton EF-19 surfactant for no foam and Triton EF-24 surfactant for excellent hard surface wetting.
In the fourth quarter of 2002, Dow Chemical introduced Heida, a chelant with properties that are similar to EDTA, but with a better biodegradability profile. The product is just another example of how Dow Chemical can create specialized products to meet the needs of its customers, said company executives.
