JAPAN: Mitsubishi Corp. plans to establish a research and development subsidiary that will be responsible for finding cosmetic and health uses for fullerenes, which are spherical carbon molecules produced through nanotechnology. Research will focus on the molecules’ ability to remove oxygen free radicals, which are said to contribute to skin aging. Product development will be conducted in alliance with a Hiroshima Prefectural University laboratory.
