Noveon Inc., Cleveland, OH, has become the exclusive distributor of Chemy-union Quimica Ltda, São Paulo, Brazil, in the U.S., Canada and India, for the distribution of Chemyunion’s botanical products, including those from the Amazon rainforest.
These products offer formulators benefits such as skin barrier protection, reduced damage by UV radiation, hair color maintenance and hair shine enhancement. BR Forest, a natural butter from Astrocaryum genus palm tree kernels, improves the cutaneous barrier function of a typical body lotion by 30% as compared to the placebo at a low concentration. Another product, Melscreen Coffee, derived exclusively from the Arabica species of coffee, contains 40% linoleic acid and from 2% to 6% of unsaponifiable matter, which helps restore stratum corneum lipids, reduce erythema caused by UV radiation and keep skin hydrated and soft.
In hair care, Melscreen Gold EX BG, Melscreen Red EX BG and Melscreen Black EX BG help to reduce the frequency of chemical dying.
