CANADA: Ombrelle, a L’Oréal sun protection brand, launched Sun Awareness Week with a host of fun and educational activities to raise awareness about the sun and health last month. Included was a tour of festivals and open-air events by the Ombrelle UV patrol in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver; Sun-Proof Sun-Smart, a school program about the harmful effects of the sun’s rays; the unveiling of a new portal, www.sunproofsunsmart.com, and the renewal of the research grant that is awarded annually to the Canadian Dermatology Association. Grant funds are collected with the help of the Ombrelle UV patrol, volunteers who ask for a donation in exchange for a dose of sun protection.
