Penreco Increases Sulfonate Production

November 14, 2005

Penreco increased production of natural sodium petroleum sulfonate five-fold at its Dickinson, TX plant, positioning the company as the largest North American producer of natural sodium petroleum sulfonates, according to company executives.

Additionally, the company entered into an exclusive agreement with Lockhart Chemical, Gibsonia, PA for all ongoing sulfonate production. Lockhart will be the sole U.S. and Canadian outlet for all of Penreco’s sulfonate production, while Penreco will maintain the right to market sulfonate in other areas of the world.

“We are very pleased with our expanded relationship with Lockhart Chemical,” said Dan Schramm, vice president, domestic sales and marketing. “Lockhart’s extensive knowledge of sulfonate and sulfonate-based compounds makes them an excellent partner as we grow our production.”
