Rayovac May Buy Remington
● At presstime, reports suggested that
Rayovac, the No. 3 U.S. battery maker,
had entered into an agreement to purchase
Remington Products Co., maker
of battery-powered electric shavers and
grooming products, for $165 million.
Speculators said this could “throw a
curveball” in Gillette Co. and Energizer
Holdings’ battle for the No. 1 spot in
the battery and razor categories.
For the 12 months ended June 30,
Bridgeport, CT-based Remington
reported sales of $360.3 million.
Remington has been owned by the
Kiam family and Vester Capital
Partners since 1996.
