Most women around the world said that how they look is an important element of their self-esteem and identity, according to Avon’s 2003 Global Women’s Survey of more than 21,000 women in 24 countries. Results found most women use beauty products, and 77% said beauty products are a necessity, not a luxury. However, 75% of women would never consider having cosmetic surgery. Though the majority of women (61%) believe that older women can be more attractive than younger women, nearly 50% said that they did or will look their best in their twenties. Women in North America put the most effort into reducing the facial signs of aging.
The survey also revealed the majority of women get ready each day in less than 30 minutes and 15% in 10 minutes. Eighty-five percent of women wear fragrance and in general, women dabble in several scents. Fragrance users own four fragrances on average and wear two regularly. Choosing which fragrance to wear on a given day depends primarily on mood or occasion. Most women also said they most desire a fragrance that makes them feel more confidant, happier or more feminine.
