The Yankee Candle Company Inc. reported record sales, operating profit, net income and EPS for the fourth quarter and full year. Fourth quarter sales rose 12% to $176.3 million.
The company said wholesale sales increased 19% to $65.5 million and retail sales increased 8.5% to $110.9 million. Yankee opened three new retail stores during the fourth quarter and ended the quarter with 239 stores in 42 states.
For the year, sales rose 17% to $444.8 million. Wholesale sales increased 22% to $204.9 million. Retail sales rose 13% to $239.9 million. Net income for fiscal 2002 increased 48% to $64 million.
