Horizontal Driers, Compact De-Humidifiers Dry Up the Competition

November 15, 2005

JAPAN: Several improved compact de-humidifiers have hit the marketplace: Mitsubishi Electric’s MJ-100VX with antioxidants to prevent fabric yellowing; Toshiba Home Technology’s RAD-63DYX and RAD-80DYX with hydrolytic enzymes to remove airborne mold; Matsushita Electric Industrial’s F-Y60Z3 with a mold-fighting filter and Hitachi Home & Life Solutions’ RD-10SX with outside temperature and humidity estimators.
Also, horizontal drum model washer-dryers that gently wash clothing are churning up sales. For example, Sanyo Electric’s AWD-B860Z is made for large clothes volumes and Matsushita Electric Industrial’s NA-V80 has a 30° angled door. Toshiba Corp.’s TW-V8630 washer-dryer uses a micro-controller to remove stains and reduce clothing entanglement. Sharp Corp. saves electricity with its ES-DG703 model, while Hitachi ’s WD-74B model saves water.
