Demand for household cleaning chemicals is expected to spike 2.5% a year to $4.6 billion by 2007, according to the “Household cleaning chemicals” report by The Freedonia Group, Cleveland, OH. Demand for wipes is expected to double by 2012, as well as anticipated gains in enzymes and polymers. Growth will continue for daily shower cleaners, fabric fresheners, no-vacuum carpet fresheners and oxygen- or orange oil-based cleaners. The Freeedonia Group said much of the innovation in the segment will rely on new ingredient and delivery method development. More than 800 million pounds ($700 million) of raw materials will be required in 2007, with notable gains in specialty chemicals. More info: www.freedoniagroup.com.
