The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) announced plans to provide a novel regulatory service to companies introducing new chemicals to the marketplace.
The service, PMNPro, allows companies to select the services they need to assist them with EPA’s new chemicals process. The program is a joint project between SOCMA’s Chemical Risk Management committee and Visions, the association’s provider of innovative chemical industry solutions.
“To my knowledge, no other chemical trade association has figured out a way to help individual members with regulatory hurdles like this,” said Joseph Acker, president, SOCMA.
PMNPro provides a complete list of services, from the development of regulatory strategies at R&D to negotiating and managing EPA testing orders. The service specializes in regulatory risk screening services using the same models and methods that EPA uses in its reviews, executives said.
“The inception of PMNPro came from our close working relationship with EPA,” said James Cooper, a government relations manager. “We’re trying to combine the best of the agency's voluntary initiatives, such as Sustainable Futures, with our intimate knowledge of the regulatory process.”
