Best Paper Winner Announced at TRI Conference

Aikaterini Mavraki of Imperial College London, the UK, received the Best Paper award from TRI/Princeton’s First International Conference on Applied Hair Science. Ms. Mavraki received the $3000 prize, provided by Wella AG, for her presentation, “The effect of moisture on the glass transition behavior of hair,” co-authored by Daryl R. Williams.
The paper explored a simple and novel method for determining the temperature and relative humidity dependence of the glass transition for natural materials.
The conference was attended by 175 participants and provided key members of the cosmetic, raw ingredient and hair care industries with an opportunity to learn about new techniques, methods and tests from their peers.
