Malls Top Back-to-School Shopping Destinations

Seventy-five percent of parents said they would complete back-to-school shopping by Sept. 1, according to the “Shopping in America” report by The Macerich Company, Santa Monica, CA. Shoppers expected to spend a total of $667.31 on back-to-school purchases, with $398.12 going toward clothing and accessories. This is the same as or more than last year, according to 86% of respondents.
The survey revealed malls are the most popular destination (55.2%), while some shop at discount stores (17.7%), other specialty stores (15%), online (4.5%) and through catalogs (3.5%). More info: www.macerich.com.
