Estée Lauder reported profit for the first fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30 rose 23%, helped by strong international sales and new brands. The company posted net income of $95 million for the quarter, up from $77.7 million in the year-ago period. First-quarter sales rose 12% to $1.5 billion.
By category, skin care sales rose 13% to $524.3 million compared to the year-ago period. Makeup sales increased 23% to $599.5 million.
