Alberto-Culver’s 2Q Profit Edges Higher

December 9, 2005

Alberto-Culver Co. announced that profit rose 4% in its fiscal third quarter on 9% sales growth.
For the three months ended June 30, the company earned $53.4 million, or 57 cents per share, up from $51.5 million, or 56 cents per share, a year ago.
Revenue increased from $898.9 million from $823.2 million, led by Tresemme, Alberto V05 and St. Ives products, the company said. Its Sally Beauty Supply business also posted strong results. This sales growth was partly offset by higher costs for raw materials and fuel, the company said.
