Yankee Candle Posts Higher 2Q Profits

Yankee Candle Co. said second quarter profit edged higher by 1.3%, but same-store sales declined 3% and total revenue fell short of analysts' expectations. Quarterly profit rose to $8.5 million from $8.4 million last year. Sales rose to $108.5 million from $100.9 million during the period. Yankee Candle said sales to retailers rose to $49.9 million from $48.1 million last year, and wholesale revenue increased to $58.7 million from $52.8 million.
