Amway Awaits Industry Rules

December 9, 2005

CHINA: Global direct-selling giant Amway says it is well prepared for the coming challenges and competition in the Chinese market after the country launches its direct-selling industry. “We will make some adjustments in our businesses here when the government issues the industry regulation,” said Amway’s President Doug DeVos. Mr. DeVos and his father, Rich DeVos, founder of Amway, went to Guangzhou to attend celebrations marking Amway China’s 10th anniversary. “We have the confidence to make successful adjustments to fulfill the requirements of the new government regulation, whatever it is like finally,” Doug DeVos said, responding to concerns that the new regulation may not favor Amway’s business model.
