Retail Forward’s recent audio forum, “The Retail Industry Outlook—Long Live the Consumer,” reported the retail environment is being driven by the “nearsighted consumer,” whose short-term focus will continue to boost retail sales. According to the team of economists on the forum, supercenters, warehouse clubs, building materials/home improvement, convenience stores and consumer electronics and appliances will be the strongest performing channels over the next five years.
