The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI, announced plans to build a new phenolic glycol ether production unit in Freeport, TX. The new unit, which is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2006, will replace the existing facility in Midland, MI. The unit will produce Dowanol EPh and PPh and will be designed to meet immediate and forecast demand for these solvents. One of the key factors behind the decision to build the new facility in Freeport is easier access to key raw materials such as phenol, ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
