Ecolab Fourth Quarter

Ecolab, Inc. said profit rose 23% on strong revenue growth in the U.S. and more modest growth abroad. Profit jumped to $70.7 million from $57.5 million a year ago. Revenue rose to $1.14 billion in the fourth quarter of 2005, from $1.07 billion in the 2004 quarter. The company’s core U.S. cleaning and sanitizing business posted sales growth of 9% to $478 million, while U.S. sales of other services rose 10% to $95 million.
International sales, measured at flat fixed currency rates, rose 5% to $591 million.
