GERMANY: Beiersdorf AG’s European consumer supply chain is being realigned. In February, the company transfered product groups from Hamburg, Germany to Argentona, Spain. All affected employees were offered new positions in other areas in Hamburg. A possible closing of the production sites in Kungsbacka, Sweden (200 staff) and Almere, Netherlands (130 staff) was also announced. The product groups would be transferred to other sites in Europe.
In addition, warehouses in The Netherlands and Belgium will be closed, and markets will be served from Hamburg. The savings generated by the realignment amount to $119.5 million a year. Beiersdorf will use these funds to invest in development of new products and brand-building.
