Solvay America, Inc.: Rene Degreve was named president and chief executive officer, headquartered in Houston, TX. He succeeds David Birney, who retired in March. Mr. Degreve has also been a member of the board of directors of Solvay America since 1998. In addition to his new duties at Solvay America, Mr. Degreve will continue to serve as a member of the executive committee of Solvay S.A.

Berry-Tubed Products: James Farley has been promoted to divisional vice president of sales and marketing, responsible for all rigid closed-top business units, including packaging-related products for personal care, household chemicals, prescriptions, health care, food and beverages.

ThermaFuse: Robert Hatch has been appointed sales associate. He was formerly regional manager with Royal Beauty Supply, will be responsible for the eastern Tennessee region, including northern Alabama, northern Georgia, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee.

Ajinomoto: Jerry Burke has been appointed eastern region sales manager, specialty chemicals division. He previously spent the last 20 years with BASF and, most recently, Croda Inc.

Michael Grenner has also been named eastern region sales manager,  specialty chemicals division. He was previously a freelance technical writer for pharmaceutical advertising firms.

International Specialty Products: Stuart Porter has joined ISP as a consultant to support new product platform development and provide technical service support for Advantia Coating Systems. In his new role, Dr. Porter will be an integral part of the R&D team researching new film-coating polymers and developing products for immediate-release and modified-release oral solid-dosage forms.

L’Oréal: Jean-Paul Agon has been appointed to succeed departing British chief executive officer Lindsay Owen-Jones. Mr. Agon has headed L’Oréal’s U.S. arm since 2001, having joined the Paris-based company in 1978.

Sothys USA: Brenda Gallagher has joined the sales team as vice president of national sales for the company. In the position, she will be responsible for further growing the brand’s distribution in national luxury spa locations, multiple door spa accounts and destination spas.

DePasquale Salon Systems: Malcolm Sillars was promoted to regional sales manager. In his new role, he will oversee sales and education throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Sillars first started working for DSS in 1996 as a district sales manager for New Jersey.

Hommage, Inc.: Christian Bardin has been appointed president, Hommage North America. He will be responsible for identifying growth segments and opportunities for Hommage as it continues to expand in the men’s grooming market. Additionally, he will manage operations for Hommage in the U.S.

Clariant Masterbatches: Chris Pandis was appointed head of the global market segment, packaging. Based at corporate headquarters in Muttenz, Switzerland, he will work closely with regional and product marketing managers to build the company’s position in the global packaging segment.

EMD Chemicals Inc.: Dan Giambattisto is the newly appointed director of sales and marketing for the Candurin and BioActives product lines. In addition, he will continue to be responsible for the business development of cosmetics.

Pascal Tuchmuntz was appointed business director for cosmetics, Rona,  which includes cosmetic pigments and active ingredients.

BASF: Christy Richardson has been appointed sales manager for its cosmetic solutions business in North America. Most recently, she was a market sector leader within the BASF engineering plastics business.

Stepan Co.: Gregory E. Lawton was elected to the board. He succeeds Paul H. Stepan. Mr. Lawton retired as president and chief executive officer of JohnsonDiversey in February 2006, after leading the company for the past seven years.

Mary  Kay, Inc.: David Holl was promoted to president and chief executive officer, and will direct all operational and fiscal initiatives for more than 4,000 Mary Kay Inc. employees worldwide. Mr. Holl joined Mary Kay in 1993 and has served in a variety of roles, including chief financial officer and treasurer and, most recently, president and chief operating officer.

In a related move, Richard R. Rogers, son of Mary Kay Ash and company co-founder, assumed the title of executive chairman of the board.

James Alexander Corp.: Ron Douros was appointed director of quality assurance, responsible for developing, implementing and leading all quality assurance activities for the company and for ensuring regulatory compliance.

Gattefossé USA: Sylvain Maur was hired as director of business development, personal care division. Arnie Esperance was appointed director of technical and marketing support, personal care division. Account manager Marisol Bello is responsible for the northeast and southeast U.S. Holly Bosley is in charge of sales and marketing, personal care division.

DeWolf Chemical, Inc.: Brian D. Leone has been hired as an account executive covering the Mid-Atlantic region.
