ooking for a contract manufacturer for your novel cosmetic formulas? The newest source for contract manufacturing services for the cosmetics industry is led by industry veteran René José, who has decades of experience in cosmetic formulation. His new company, RMJ Laboratories, is a full-contract services operation for cosmetic and over-the-counter pharmaceutical production.
The capabilities of RMJ were on display when Mr. José and his team hosted an open house following the New York Chapter of the SCC Supplier’s Day on May 17 in Edison, NJ. RMJ’s facility offers a wide range of services for the cosmetic industry and is both GMP-compliant and FDA-registered.
“Our contract manufacturing facility capabilities exceed cosmetic industry requirements,” noted Mr. José. “This facility is designed to produce pharmaceutical products.”
More specifically, RMJ provides custom cosmetics development and manufacturing outsourcing from formulation and development to manufacturing to filling and packaging of a wide range of personal care products, including skin care, treatments, bath and body, hair care and OTC.
The company’s proprietary processing reactor vessels offer flexible batch sizes from 33 to 1000 gallons. To ensure quality, each process vessel is contained in a private room that is isolated from all other equipment. This design ensures quality control and confidentiality, said Mr. José.
RMJ’s filling capabilities range from light, water-like lotions to very heavy creams. The company can fill bottles or jars in sizes ranging from 0.25oz. to 32oz. In addition, RMJ can fill tubes anywhere from .75- to 2.18-inches.
This summer, RMJ is adding a Class 1000 clean-air room. When it is completed, the room will ensure microbiolgical-free product integrity throughout the filling process, which makes it suitable for producing preservative-free products.
Although RMJ Laboratories is the new kid on the contract manufacturing block, the cosmetic industry has already taken notice.
“We’re working very closely with some of the leading cosmetics companies in the world,” noted Mr. José.
