The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) announces that Matt Kistler, vice president, package and product innovations, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and Amy Zettlemoyer, director of packaging, Sam’s Club, will deliver the closing keynote address at this fall’s conference at Pack Expo, running from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2006. The three-day conference will be held in conjunction with the Pack Expo International 2006 event, scheduled for Oct. 29-Nov. 2 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
In a presentation titled “The Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club Packaging Vision,” Mr. Kistler and Ms. Zettlemoyer will discuss the underlying principles that Wal-Mart uses to stay abreast of consumer and environmental trends. They will also offer insight into some of the packaging innovations being implemented by the world’s largest retailer of packaged goods. The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 10:30am.
“With over $288 billion in sales in 2005 alone, Wal-Mart is clearly a key influencer in the packaging marketplace,” commented Ben Miyares, vice president, industry relations for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI), sponsor and producer of the show and conference. “As Wal-Mart continues to refine its packaging initiatives, there is great interest in how those initiatives will shape the future of the industry. We’re pleased that Wal-Mart has agreed to share the Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club packaging vision and mission with Pack Expo attendees.”
Other keynote speakers include Harris E. DeLoach Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Sonoco Products Co., and Dennis McGrew, president and chief executive officer of NatureWorks LLC. Mr. DeLoach will deliver the first keynote address on Oct. 30 with a presentation entitled, “Packaging: A Change Agent in Change.”
