September 8, 2006

Consumer products maker Playtex Products Inc.’s second-quarter profit rose, led by strong sales of Banana Boat sun care products and Wet Ones hand and face wipes. It also backed its full-year financial forecast.
For the quarter ended July 1, the company reported net income of $10.3 million, versus a prior-year profit of $6.2 million. Revenue rose to $180.3 million from $177 million in the year earlier period.
Playtex affirmed its 2006 forecast calling for operating income between $103 million to $108 million and sales rising in the mid-single digit range, excluding divested brands. Including divested assets, 2006 sales are expected to fall in the low-single digit range.
