Yankee Candle Posts Higher Than Expected Profits

Yankee Candle Co. Inc., expects fourth-quarter and full-year profit and sales to top analysts’ expectations. Reports indicate that sales have increased between 16-17% or $275 million compared to last year’s $236.9 million. Total consolidated sales for the company were between $684 million and $687 million, compared with $601.2 million for 2005 representing an approximate increase of 14%. In an agreement effective first-quarter 2007, Chicago-based private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners LLC has acquired the maker and retailer of scented candles.
