Blue expresses confidence, trust and intelligence, with dark blues used often by banks and large corporations. So, for 2008, ColorForward suggests a family of three very different blues: Moody Blue, reminiscent of a stormy overcast sky reflected on an urban landscape; Ink, a dark, bottomless, midnight blue and Capri Blue, suggesting turquoise beads, ocean waters and peacock feathers.
Created by the international Clariant ColorWorks team, ColorForward helps product designers and developers use color more effectively. The trend analyses are drawn from the collective expertise of ColorWorks specialists around the world as well as global trend organizations, the design community and leading consumer brands.
ColorForward 2008 identifies a range of 15 colors grouped into five families: red and brown, yellow, green, blue, and purple and pink. All 15 of the ColorForward color examples are captured on a printed color wheel and in polypropylene color chips to provide a tactile experience. A presentation and follow-up discussion, facilitated by a Clariant professional, help put everything into perspective.
