Tom Burns has been named director of sales NAFTA for Cognis Care Chemicals. Mr. Burns has over 20 years of experience in the personal care and HI&I industry. Prior to this appointment, he was market manager for the consumer specialties division of Interpolymer Corp. He also held a variety of domestic and international assignments at Lonza Inc. and Rhodia.Sean Maguire has been appointed NAFTA regional sales manager, Lab Sero Active Cosmetics, in addition to his existing role as business manager, Care Chemicals-Canada. Mr. Maguire has over 20 years of sales and business management experience.

Appointed Lorenzo Cavallaro to the position of vice president sales, North America fine fragrances. In his new position, Mr. Cavallaro will be responsible for the continued growth of IFF’s fine fragrance business in North America. Mr. Cavallaro joined IFF in 2004 as a global account manager. In addition to delivering significant sales growth, he has been instrumental in developing IFF’s prominent position with strategic accounts.

David Apel is the new senior perfumer in the fine fragrance team at Symrise. Mr. Apel has composed numerous fragrances including creations for Cerruti, Hugo Boss, Armani, Calvin Klein and Escada. Mr. Apel began his career as a compounder at Givaudan. After becoming a perfumer, he continued his career at Givaudan and Givaudan Roure.Symrise has appointed Dominique Yates chief financial officer. He joins from Imperial Tobacco Group, where he held various financial and management positions, most recently as group business development director.
Stephanus Korver will strengthen Symrise’s team of perfumers in the area of home care products, working primarily on creating perfume oils for use in laundry detergents. Prior to this assignment, he worked in the areas of functional and household fragrances for companies such as Naarden, Quest, Dragoco and Takasago.
Richard van Dijk will lend his assistance to projects for global key accounts; he will also work as a research perfumer, providing support for the Symrise scent and care team. Mr. Van Dijk has extensive experience in creative fragrance development, particularly in the area of cosmetics and toiletries. Both perfumers will work for Symrise in Holzminden.

Elected Neil J. Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Parlux Fragrances, Inc., to serve on the Foundation’s board, which serves to enhance the image of the fragrance industry and expand the appreciation and use of fragrance in all its forms across all distribution channels globally.According to Parlux, Mr. Katz is pleased to have the opportunity to rejoin the Board of Directors of the Foundation, where he previously served from 1996 to 2002, including a term as the Foundation’s first vice chairman from 2000 to 2002.
