JAPAN: Domestic shipments of kitchen detergents dropped 4.2% to $391 million in 2006. However, the decline in market price appeared to be coming to an end as demand for detergents for washer/dryers as well as high-performance products was expanding.
Procter & Gamble Far East Inc., which enjoyed strong sales of dishwasher detergents, retained the top position overall, though by a smaller margin than the previous year. Second-placed Kao Corp lifted its share to 34% due to the success of its new brand of detergent, “Family CuCute, Sodium Citrate Effect.”
