Surefil LLC, a fast-growing contract manufacturer of liquid-filled products, has added back-up and redundant systems to ensure dependable production for the personal care and medical industries. Because Surefil manufactures products within these industries, high purity water is essential to the proper manufacture of consistent, quality products and Surefil has invested significantly in its water system.
Surefil has upgraded and added USP water capacity. Its purified water system can now produce 75 gallons per minute of USP 29 water. A newly-installed storage capacity allows the system to deliver water to compounding operations at a rate of more than 120 gallons per minute.
Surefil has also created redundancies in key utilities for increased reliability. The company has installed an additional cooling tower, which recycles water from Lake Michigan. The water from this tower is used for cooling jackets in compounding tanks. The company has also installed a second boiler and backup equipment for its compressed air systems, along with increases to its electrical capacity.
