As the U.S. population becomes more and more ethnically diverse, women of different ethnic groups continue to change the face of beauty. According to The NPD Group’s Ethnic Consumer Beauty Report, not only are there differences in the types of beauty products used by women of color, but differences also exist in frequency of use.
An NPD report sheds light on how often African American, Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian women use makeup, skin care and fragrance products. In makeup usage, both Caucasian and Hispanic women are more likely than African American and Asian women to report daily usage of foundation, blush or mascara. Every day, lipstick usage is highest among Hispanic women who report using the product. Also, both African American and Asian women are more likely than Caucasian women to use lipstick every day. Among skin care users, the majority across all ethnic groups report using body cleansers, facial moisturizers and facial cleansers daily.
