HBA Global Expo Appoints Birkett As Event Director
HBA Global Expo:
Jill Birkett has been appointed to the position of event director, cosmetics & fragrances business division for CMPi, the producers of the HBA Global Expo events.Ms. Birkett will be responsible for managing the sales, marketing, and operations of the annual HBA Global Expo and Educational Conference and spearheading the future growth of the HBA brands including the spring educational conferences and the HBA Industry Awards.
Kinetik:
Juliana Rumbaugh joined Kinetik Technologies as sales and marketing coordinator. Ms. Rumbaugh has a B.S. from Susquehanna University and has a background in marketing and client services. She has spent five years in the chemicals and personal care industry working for companies such as General Chemical and Croda, Inc.Archway:
Archway Marketing Servies has expanded its management team. Megan Nelson has been appointed to director of marketing and Rob Walters to director of operations of the Midwest trade division.In her new role, Ms. Nelson will become more involved in developing and executing Archway’s strategic direction by focusing on sales management. She will continue to maintain responsibility for management of the Archway brand, marketing department and agency partners. Since joining the company in 2006 as marketing manager, Ms. Nelson has led company efforts to bring structure and consistency to Archway’s marketing and sales management groups.
As the director of operations of the Midwest trade division, Rob Walters will lead continuous improvement and operational excellence for Archway. He will also direct all new client integrations for Archway’s Midwest trade division in addition to managing the day-to-day operations of Archway’s Rogers, MN., facilities. Since joining Archway in 2005 as operations manager, Walters has implemented multiple process improvements that enabled the company’s growth during the past year.
Q-Lab Corporation:
Justin Kowallek joined Q-Lab Corporation’s sales and marketing staff as a sales representative serving the U.S. and Canadian markets. He is based at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, OH.Mr. Kowallek previously worked for CEC Combustion Services Group, where he was responsible for client relationship management, sales training and support, parts management, and various marketing functions. He is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College.
Firmenich:
Théo E. Spilka was appointed vice president, new business development and licensing international at Firmenich. Mr. Spilka, a 21-year veteran of the fragrance industry, has held executive positions for Firmenich in New York, Geneva and Paris.In recent years, Mr. Spilka has successfully identified new fragrance licensing opportunities throughout the U.S., signing exclusive business development and licensing agreements for Firmenich. He has facilitated many notable industry launches and licensing agreements with the company’s clients including: LookModels A.G., Baby Phat, Zac Posen, Niki Taylor, Usher, Tommy Bahama, Badgley Mischka and Izod, among others.
L’Oréal:
Patrick Rabain, executive vice president of L’Oréal consumer products division, retired last month. He spent 34 years at the company and held the aforementioned position since 1996. Prior to that, he worked as director of consumer products in France, director of L’Oréal Germany, director of L’Oréal United Kingdom and marketing director of L’Oréal Paris. In 1973, he started his career as head of marketing studies at L’Oréal Paris.Murad:
Murad, Inc. welcomes Jeff Murad as the company’s vice president of product development. Among other responsibilities, Mr. Murad will continue to work closely with his father and company founder, Dr. Howard Murad, to ensure that the Murad heritage and tradition of innovation continues to thrive.Mr. Murad has played an integral role in the growth of the company over the past several years working in Murad’s marketing, business and product development departments. Most recently, he collaborated with Dr. Murad to create Murad Man, the first Murad brand designed to specifically address the needs of mens’ skin.
Drom:
Jean Gatignol, an ISIPCA and New York University graduate, has joined Drom’s U.S. division as general manager. Mr. Gatignol comes to Drom Fragrances, Inc. from Takasago, after having held other international management positions at Symrise, Dragoco and L’Oréal. He brings a wealth of multicultural and international experience to his new leadership role with Drom.Mr. Gatignol will be responsible for all of Drom’s U.S. operations, overseeing locations in Towaco, NJ and New York City as well as California. He will be dually based in Drom’s creative center in downtown Manhattan and in the New Jersey location.
Alberto Culver:
Gina Boswell has been appointed president of global brands. She will oversee brands such as Alberto V05, Tresemme, St. Ives and Nexxus, as well as research and development and consumer insights. Ms. Boswell comes to Alberto-Culver with more than 10 years of experience in the beauty products industry, including executive positions at Avon Products, Inc., where she most recently served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for Avon North America.
Osmotics:
Leonard Hinzo has been promoted to vice president of sales, Osmotics. Mr. Hinzo joined the company in 2003 as the regional sales director Midwest and took on the position of national sales director three years later in 2006.Prior to Osmotics, Mr. Hinzo held management positions with personal care brands Perscriptives, Color Me Beautiful and Fernand Aubrey. He has additional industry experience having worked with Ultima II, Payot/ Paris, Frances Denney and Colonia Fragrance Group.
George Smart has been promoted to vice president training education and special projects. He has been with the Osmotics team since 1997 where he began working behind the Osmotics counter at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. He was then transferred to Beverly Hills as a counter manager for four years until he was promoted to national director of training and education in 2003. Prior to joining Osmotics, Mr. Smart was a regional account executive at Annick Goutal.
